How to become a BCDC Member:

REQUIREMENTS

A handler may become a prospective member after they pay for, and complete, a third training session within a two year period. They must also receive a letter from the Membership Committee inviting them to become a prospective member.  The Membership Chair receives student lists after each Training Session and sends Membership invitations to all Non-Members that have completed the training requirements.

If a handler begins training a dog that he or she has obtained a performance title on (agility, tracking, obedience, etc.), he or she becomes eligible for prospective membership after completing one training session with the same dog. [update approved Sept 27, 2007 board meeting.]

The process for any subsequent member of an already represented domicile who wishes to become a full member of BCDC is as follows: the individual must first serve the club in some capacity prior to being voted upon. The individual can then be introduced at one meeting and may be voted upon at the next scheduled meeting.

During the prospective membership period you are required to serve BCDC in some capacity. This can be accomplished by working at any of our agility or obedience trials or some other board approved activity. You are also required to attend three (3) meetings within a six (6) month period. During these six (6) months the applicant and the club can evaluate one another to see if this would be a mutually beneficial union of the two.

A prospective member can be voted in prior to the completion of the 6 month probation period provided that all of the requirements for membership have been met.

The Membership Committee will take special situations into consideration.

The Membership Committee will meet monthly to discuss the applications, and then will forward their recommendations to the membership. Applicants will be notified in writing, in advance of the meeting, if they are not going to be recommended for membership.

Once full membership is granted, the member receives full membership benefits, including reduced training fees.

Benefits

Members in good standing with BCDC not only get to enjoy the commaraderie of like minded dog enthusiasts, they also receive discounts on classes that they take in the future. Also, BCDC members are given priority when seminars are offered, also at reduced rates.

BCDC also has several social events through the year that are open to members only such as our annual Howloween party, Christmas Holiday party, awards dinner and annual membership picnic.

BCDC also maintains a club library consisting of many titles pertaining to Health, Training, Agility, Obedience, Raising and many other Canine Topics. The library is available to members of BCDC.

Club members are also allowed to use the club house and agility barn to train when there is no class in session. This is by reservation only to club members.

Costs

The club dues are $50.00 per year payable when you are elected to membership. The normal club dues year is from July to June.
